In the early 1900’s, when landscape photography began to emerge within the art world, artists were eager to document the beauty of their natural surroundings. The depiction of landscapes found its niche within naturalism and representational works of art. However today, contemporary artists are pushing the boundaries of landscape photography and exploring its ability in new and innovative ways.

The term, “dreamscape” describes a surrealistic space, or the field in which our dreams occur. In this series, I wanted to combine my love of landscape photography with abstract and formal imagery to create these dreamlike spaces that perhaps only exist in our imagination. By manipulating existing spaces and creating new ones, I want to remove the viewer from our ordinary reality and provide an escape into a new and exciting one. While the subject matter remains traditional, its meaning and interpretation are open to endless possibilities.
